After ten years in business as a platform for global maternal and newborn health innovation, the company reports social impact as 4.1 million lives
Providence, Rhode Island – April 16, 2025 – Maternova, Inc., accelerating advances in maternal and infant health through innovative, accessible solutions, today announced the results of its social impact analysis covering the last ten years. The company reports 4.1 million women and infants have been impacted through the company’s unique business model.
“Maternova focuses on accelerating access to proven medical devices and diagnostics in order to prevent maternal and infant deaths. As an example, our non-pneumatic shock garment is used to reverse shock in a woman suffering from postpartum hemorrhage, the leading cause of death for women. Maternova manufactures the NASG in Asia and sells thousands of units to countries from Nicaragua to Nepal,” states the CEO, Dr. Gabriela Salvador. Another Maternova product, the MaternaWell Tray is a way to measure postpartum hemorrhage sustainably and affordably. It is being scaled up across Africa.
Each medical device or diagnostic manufactured or distributed by the company is selected for its outsized contribution to maternal, infant or child health. Products for infants include key medical equipment that should be in place in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or the area of the hospital where distressed infants are nursed back to health. For example, the Pumani bubble CPAP for respiratory distress, infant warmers to treat hypothermia and other such devices are part of the Maternova product portfolio.
The company tracks the number of products sold and delivered, the countries reached and the customers’ experiences with the devices and diagnostics over time. The most recent analysis, covering 10 years in business, found that the aggregate impact of the company is 4.1 million lives.
