The Breath of Life "Bilibed" was developed in Vietnam to treat pathologic jaundice and protect children from hypothermia in very remote areas. The bed has long life high-power LEDs and is cheap and reliable. No disposables or consumables are involved. The small portable bed allows a mother to hold the infant on her lap for bonding and breastfeeding.
A 2010 Annual Report for the non-profit states that BOL technologies are now treating almost 45,000 babies a year. This figure includes all BOL technologies that EMW has in operation, which by the end of 2009 totaled 557 CPAP machines, 190 phototherapy machines, 192 warmers and 30 bilibeds.
