AMT, Inc. has developed a battery-run, solar-powered blanket that treats neonatal jaundice with light therapy. The blanket emits blue LED light and is powered by a battery charged via a photovoltaic panel, which converts solar radiation into electricity. This battery run, photovoltaic technology is low-cost and appropriate for resource-poor areas where grid electricity is unavailable. Engineer Arye Rosen of AMT, Inc. and neonatologist Harel Rosen will test a prototype portable blanket using this technology. This project is being funded by Grand Challenges in Global Health.

Could you please tell me the how many percentage of babies will have jaundice after birth worldwide?
Shabeer
Thank you Shabeer for your comment. Approximately 10 % of all babies worldwide need treatment for jaundice in order to prevent more serious complications, including neurological complications.
