The Springfusor® is a new syringe infusion pump designed for simplicity in use for continuous infusions--it is being tested by Gynuity Health Projects for its utility in delivering magnesium sulfate to treat eclampsia and preeclampsia (funded by the MacArthur Foundation). The device requires no electricity or batteries and is a spring-driven cartridge that drives a syringe. There is no risk of drugs being accidentally downloaded as with electronic pumps.
