Lucerna has proposed to Saving Lives at Birth the development of "a portable diagnostic device for the rapid and specific detection of procalcitonin, an early sepsis biomarker", in order to more rapidly and more effectively diagnose infections in neonates in the field, leading to quicker and more effective treatment. The team will make the diagnostic device simple, durable, and non-perishable.
