Seattle Children's Research Institute is developing an inexpensive respiratory device for premature babies called the Seattle Children's Positive Airway Pressure device, or Sea-PAP. The Sea-PAP has advanced upon a ubiquious respiratory technology called Bubble Continous Positive Airway Pressure, B-CPAP. B-CPAP delivers a continuous, pressurized flow of oxygen enriched air tha is delviered through a breathing circuit. Gas bubbles create airway pressure oscillations that improve gas exchange in the lungs.
