NeoSyP is an inexpensive neonatal syringe pump designed for the developing world by Rice University students. It contains an easy-to-use syringe driver that delivers accurate levels of fluid to newborns. An alternative to inaccurately used gravity-fed IV bags, NeoSyP is a safer method of fluid delivery for newborns and can prevent fatalities related to improper fluid intake. The pump has aluminum and acrylic housing and can withstand drops up to a foot. It is not yet on the market.
