NAPS Vaccine Fridge System

Last Update: January 11, 2013

Vaccinations in very remote parts of the world rely on solar powered refrigerators to store the vaccine in. Naps’ This Camel Fridge is made by a Finnish company who sells vaccine refrigerators and power packs.   As of about 2009 1500 have been sold to aid the World Health Organisation's and UNICEF’s global programmes for vaccination. The name 'Camel Fridge' originates from a special project in Africa where NAPS developed a unique, truly mobile solar electricity refrigerator. As we understand it, this special project for camel refrigerators evolved into a more standard model for use in rural clinics. Most vaccine refrigerators are used in rural health centers.
