The MamaNatalie is now available and shipping to customers. It is available to developing countries on a not-for-profit basis and in other countries in a “Buy One Gift One” campaign
The NeoNatalie mannequin helps health workers learn how to resuscitate a baby who is not breathing. Since asphyxia is the leading cause of newborn death in much of the world, this tool is vital. The company, Laerdal, is now offering the training tool at 80% of the original cost (on a non-profit basis) as part of the AAP's "Helping Babies Breathe" initiative. In addition they have a one page protocol and a curriculum to save infants during 'The Golden Minute."
Helping Babies Breathe is an initiative of the American Academy of Pediatrics other partners including the US Agency for International Development (USAID), The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and Saving Newborn Lives/Save the Children. The curriculum was developed with input from the World Health Organization (WHO). All this is made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine, and support from Latter-day Saint Charities.
