Intra-abdominal balloon device to control postpartum hemorrhage, Egypt

Still In Development Last Update: January 11, 2013

This Soliman-Mourad method, devised in Egypt allows a woman to be saved from massive hemorrhage, restoring a functioning uterus and avoiding a hysterectomy. The balloon device is designed so that when both balloons are inflated, compression of the anterior uterine wall against the posterior one occurs, thus compressing and closing the blood sinuses and opposing the bleeding endouterine surfaces tightly against each other. The inventors of this technology are seeking a manufacturer currently.
