Direct Medical Systems has designed the InNovaSound - the first complete ultrasound imaging system that is built into a handheld probe which plugs into the USB port of a computer. This probe, relative to conventional ultrasound machines, is inexpensive and portable, and can make prenatal and other screenings possible in low-resource settings.
