Infant sized pulse oximeter

Still In Development Last Update: January 11, 2013
While physicians in the developing world may have access to adult-sized pulse oximeters, these designs do not accommodate the size of an infant’s palm or foot. Pediatric pulse oximeters, designed with the same electronics, are more expensive and difficult to find. A [Rice 360] (http://beyondtraditionalborders.rice.edu/design.cfm?doc_id=12213) design team modified an adult pulse oximeter allowing it to be effective for use with an adult finger or a neonate palm or foot. This will be field tested in Niger in December 2009.
