"birth simulator", PartoPant, MDG5,

This ingenious do-it-yourself birth simulator, the PartoPant TM, is the brainchild of Pronto2International.  By taking a simple pair of scrubs, you can create a birth simulator, allowing training of different scenarios in emergency obstetric care.  The Pronto team is working in Chiapas with this clever invention.   The team provides the directions to make the simulator here.

The team notes the following on their website:

"All other materials included in the simulations are based on the actual materials (medications, instruments, equipment) available at the training site.

Materials used in the activities and training are low-cost and can be obtained locally, no matter the setting (ie. rope, paper, red food coloring, gelatin)."

The team calls this the 'high-fidelity, low-tech birth simulator"
