The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is piloting an mHealth system that builds on an existing, one-way mHealth structure in Rwanda. The project uses two-way SMS messaging between mothers and clinics to quickly deploy motorcycle ambulances if a mother requests one.
This technology came to our attention through the Saving Lives at Birth Challenge, 2012. USAID, UKAID, the Government of Norway, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, and The World Bank have joined to launch Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development."
