Click Dx enables mobile telemedicine anywhere. The company provides a mobile technology-based infrastructure to connect community-based health-workers to remote medical specialists.  Click Dx has  applied this IT innovation to maternal health in Bangladesh.  They work with BRAC to send sophisticated maternal health questionnaires via mobile phone. The data entered into a mobile phone by a health worker—is then sent to a server which analyzes risks and then sends the assessment back to the health worker. 

Recent Maternal health specific work and milestones

Click Dx developed a project with BRAC (the largest NGO in the world) in Bangladesh.  The project involves a complete questionnaire regarding maternal health, and a separate questionnaire for child health, integrated within the same software. The algorithm is quite sophisticated, and collects information (for mothers) starting from pregnancy identification to PNC (with ANC & delivery details in between) in a relatively complex decision tree. For children, the questionnaire collects different sets of information based on the age of child (neonate, infant, child categories). Health workers visit each mother/child every month, and collect different sets of information based on the stage of pregnancy (ANC-trimesters, delivery, PNC, by order of visit, etc.) and child age.

The information thus sent is going to be analysed at the server level using a risk assessment algorithm and the pregnant women/mothers categorized in risk levels of 1 to 3. Customized feedback based on this risk level will eventually be sent to the health workers, who will communicate the information to their patients. Click Dx is in the process of designing and finetuning that server algorithm, and is not yet ready to be shared.

The questionnaires (not the algorithm) are joint IPR of BRAC and Click.

Early warning
Detection/early warning of diseases, such as HIV, and Cervical Cancer, that are amenable for screening through cell-phone camera images of external manifestations in skin and eyes, and voice-recorded symptoms

Public health data-gathering
Gathering of critical household-level data needed for planning health-related interventions, such as sanitation conditions
