March 2012: Breath of Life helps train and equip NICUs in Laos PDR and the Kingdom of Cambodia (with the support of the Lemelson Foundation) and Timor Leste (supported by the Trento Friends of Neonatology). Following the successful establishment of BOL in those countries, EMW is now bringing the same model of clinical neonatal solutions to three other countries: India, the Philippines, and Myanmar.

August 2011 A recent article notes that the 500 phototherapy unites have been installed in 200 hospitals in Vietnam, Laos and East Timor.

This LED Phototherapy machine cheaply treats pathological jaundice in newborns. The machine is designed and produced in Vietnam and has no disposable parts. LED lights last 5+ years and are very intense and overall cost($1000USD) is a fraction of Western models. Currently, more than 200 “Breath of Life” LED phototherapy are in use in 80 hospitals in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and East Timor, in every level of care from national hospitals to district level facilities, treating more than 5,000 newborns every year.
